Overview
Nurse leaders develop a style and strategies based on theory. Theories can inform many aspects of nurse leadership including communication, decision-making, dissemination of information, conflict management, and collaboration. In this project, you will solidify your understanding of nurse leadership and how theory drives all aspects of it. As part of this, you will complete a nurse leader interview. You will also use the significant trend in healthcare that you selected as part of your Module One project preparation for interviewing your chosen nurse leader.

Addressing incivility in the interprofessional team
Addressing high nursing staff turnover
Using the information obtained during the interview and your personal assessment of your leadership style, you will develop an understanding of leadership through the lens of an organizational trend that needs to be addressed.
Directions
Conduct an interview with a formal nurse leader. Prepare the letter of attestation, located in the Supporting Materials below, for signatures. Following the interview, review the information collected to complete a paper. You must cite at least three current scholarly sources. To be considered current, scholarly sources must have been published within the last five years. Specifically, you must address the following rubric criteria for the selected trend.
Nurse Leader Interview: Conduct an interview with a nurse leader.
Nurse Leadership Attributes and Style Analysis: Analyze the leadership style and attributes of the nurse leader. Include the following in your response:
A representative leadership theory
Problem-solving strategies guided by this leadership theory
Organizational Trend and Leadership Approach: Describe the trend and leadership approach used by the nurse leader. Include the following in your response:
Prioritized strategies
Professional communication
Dissemination of information
Incorporating diverse perspectives
Leadership Approach Assessment: Assess how well the leadership approach used to address the trend reflects the nurse leader’s identified leadership style. Be sure to include examples in your response.
Your Leadership Style: Determine how your leadership style aligns with or differs from that of the nurse leader interviewed. Include the following in your response:
A leadership theory representative of your leadership style
A problem-solving strategy guided by this leadership theory
