    Part A: Initial Post
Hallucinogens and Psychedelics have been used for centuries. Many cultures have believed that these substances take them to a spiritual place where they are able to see beyond the earth. However, this appears not to be the case in American culture where the use of hallucinogens and psychedelics have no clinical benefit but are used to enhance the party effect. For this discussion, you will use the text, and at least two other sources, to take two opposing positions. One; you are a “salesperson” of hallucinogens and psychedelics at a party. Convince me why I should buy these substances and use them, (investigate how much these substances cost), at the party. Two; you are my best friend who is knowledgeable of the cons of using these substances. Convince me not to buy or use them. Read these out loud to someone in your family and ask them which “convincing” sounds more appealing.
    Part B: Responses to Peers
Add an additional perspective to what each student has presented for them to consider.
Part C: Expand and Integrate the Discussion
Refute what the other students presented, challenge the idea or assumption and modify it, or accept the other students’ responses to your answers. Explain and justify why you did refute, challenge and modify, or accept their ideas. How did what they say help you clarify or expand on your original answers?
Your grade will be determined according to the Discussion Rubric embedded in this discussion assignment.

    Assessment Descriiption
Planning is the key to successful completion of this course and program-related objectives. The Individual Success Plan (ISP) assignment requires early collaboration with the course faculty and your clinical preceptor. Students must establish a plan for successful completion of:
The required 50 community direct clinical practice experience hours, 50 leadership direct clinical practice experience hours, and 25 indirect care experience hours.
Completion of work associated with program competencies.
Work associated with completion of the student’s capstone project change proposal.
Students will use the Individual Success Plan to develop an individual plan for completing practice hours and course objectives. As a part of this process, students will identify the number of hours set aside to meet course goals.
Student expectations and instructions for completing the ISP document are provided in the “NRS-465 Individual Success Plan” template.
The Individual Success Plan is a clinical document that is necessary to meet clinical requirements for this course. Therefore, the form should be submitted with the preceptor’s hand-written signature. A typed electronic signature will not be accepted.
Students should apply concepts from prior courses to critically examine and improve their current practice. Students are expected to integrate scholarly readings to develop case reports that demonstrate increasingly complex and proficient practice.
After the ISP has been developed by the student and approved by the course faculty, students will initiate a preconference with the faculty and preceptor to review the ISP.
You are not required to submit this assignment to LopesWrite.

    Instructions
The OSINT Collection plan will use the references presented in class, as well as other relevant material, to develop a strategy for collecting OSINT surrounding the scenario selected by the student. This assignment is NOT the actual analysis. You are to consider how, what, and where you might find relevant OSINT regarding your topic. This should assume that your topic is ‘new’ and little to no analytical OSINT has been conducted on your topic. There is no standard format for the OSINT Collection Plan. However, it should have the following characteristics:

The report should be based on the information requirements YOU develop for your scenario.
Assist your supported decision-maker in visualizing their problem.
Cover current and future issues surrounding your topic.
Use a variety of OSINT sources.
From both “mainstream” and “unique” sources
Offer intelligence/information from both sides of the issue.
Cover the collection capabilities of all echelons involved with your problem.
    Contain precise and directive language.
    Written Assignment Guidance
    Your written assignments should include:

Name, Title Page, and appropriate headings
    Typewritten in double-spaced format
    Times New Roman 12-point font
    1-inch page margins
    Appropriate citations and references

It should adhere to graduate style standards which means no informal writing, slang, or jargon, well organized, and well cited. While specific citation counts can vary, a good rule of thumb is approximately 10 academic sources and a minimum of 2-3 citations per page to add weight to your arguments.

Your OSINT Collection Plan should be between 5-10 pages and organized as appropriate for your scenario.

NOTE: This is a collection PLAN, not actual analysis or reporting. As a guide, consider that you are a mid-level analyst and you are mentoring a junior analyst on where to find appropriate information, why you are using that appropriate information, and any ‘tips/tricks’ or stumbling blocks that might occur along the way. Your next assignment will fulfill the actual reporting.

The OSINT Collection Plan will be evaluated by the instructor using the APUS Assignment rubric scoring guide.

    Discussion Instructions
Please refer to the Discussion Grading Rubric and the module, Discussions for details regarding how your performance will be assessed. NOTE: Please be certain to read the entire discussion assignment since, in some cases, there is more than one question to discuss, respond to, or address. Ensure that you have answered the entire question.
    Initial Post
This week’s discussion is a case analysis of Smithfield Custom Furniture developed specifically for this course. Your posting should answer the questions posed using this week’s course materials to support your answers. It is important to write concisely and to follow the detailed instructions provided below. Include in-text citations and references in a reference list.
    Case Discussion
    SMITHFIELD’S CUSTOM FURNITURE
It is 1901. Alicia Smithfield, daughter of the founder of Smithfield Custom Furniture, just inherited the company. She is the only surviving heir to the furniture empire her father built.
Headquartered in upstate New York, the company has grown significantly over the past 60 years. Began in a shed built next to his log cabin, Jonas Smithfield’s quality furniture developed a huge following among New York City’s wealthiest residents.
After being educated in the best business schools in Europe and America, Alicia has run the business side-by-side with her father for the past 15 years. When there were many issues confronting the business, a fallen tree causing an unexpected route and brought Jonas’ life to a surprising end.
The company had just moved to a facility large enough to house its workers: 10 carpenters; 5 furniture designers; 5 wood finishers (varnish and dye experts); 10 machine operators to assist with the various equipment needed to cut the wood into various designs, polish and sand the wood; 5 mechanics to keep the vehicles (5 trucks) and boats (7) that transported wood from upstate New York and Canada to the work area in good repair; 15 lumberjacks who cut wood in nearby areas and moved it downriver by boat or over the rugged highway by truck; and 5 office personnel who assisted with filing, invoicing, drafting and responding to correspondence, handling customer inquiries, and performing other necessary office functions. More than half of these employees were hired in the past 5 years.
    Alicia’s Big Issues
The major issues confronting Alicia Smithfield are these:
    (1) The furniture manufacturing functions are very disorganized. It is not clear how to best organize these functions. For example, the varnish and dye experts each use a different method to complete their tasks.
    (2) The production schedule is a mess. It is not clear which projects should be completed first to ensure products are being delivered to customers on time.
    (3) The lumberjacks, both cutting trees down and shipping them by truck or boat, differ on the best methods to perform these tasks.
    (4) Tempers are flaring as a result of the disorganization. The office, clerical, and support workers are rude to each other and can’t seem to act as a cohesive work unit.
    (5) While the company is financially successful, as it has grown from a small family-owned business to a large and complex enterprise, the organizational structure has not kept pace. Few formal rules exist, and the keeping and maintenance of records are haphazard.
    (6) Employees are feeling overworked and losing satisfaction in the work they are doing. They believe their basic needs are not being addressed.
    Alicia’s Proposed Issue Solutions
Alicia Smithfield is familiar with all of the contributors (e.g., Weber, Gilbreath, Taylor, among others) to the management theory you have read about this week. She has decided to hire six (6) of those contributors to management theory from the week’s readings as consultants. (We shall now refer to those contributors (e.g., Weber, Gilbreath, Taylor, among the others) in this week’s readings as “consultants.”)

Each of the six (6) consultants selected will be assigned to solve only one of the six (6) issues listed above. Alicia’s problem is that she is unclear as to which of the six (6) contributors selected from the week’s reading to be her consultants are best matched to solve each of the six (6) specific issues listed above.
Your Task for Your Initial Post
You are to answer four (4) of the above-mentioned six (6) issues identified by Alicia Smithfield. Specifically, she has asked you to recommend a consultant to solve four of the six issues confronting her. You have been requested to explain to Alicia why you selected the four consultants you chose to solve each of the four selected issues. Each consultant will solve one of the four issues you identified that particular consultant to address. You must explain the major contribution/idea of the consultant selected and how that contribution/idea applies to the specific issue you have recommended that the consultant solve. You must identify the school of thought that each consultant represents.
Note: You may not use any of the individuals in the readings to solve more than one of the four (4) issues. If a person you select is deceased, do not let that inconvenience stand in your way. You may still use that individual to solve a specific issue.
For research associated with this discussion, you must use course materials only. You must provide in-text citations and references for each of the four (4) issues you select.
    Format for Your Initial Post
Use the exact numbers and corresponding headings for your initial post for each of your 4 selections. For example, one student’s post may be numbered 1, 3, 5, 6; another student’s post may be numbered 1, 2, 4, 5; and so forth. Any four of the six issues listed that a student selects to answer will be acceptable.
    Manufacturing Functions are Disorganized
    Production Schedule is a Mess
Lumberjack Disagreement Methods To Cut Trees/Load Boat
Tempers Flare among Office Support Staff
    Lack of Formal Rules/Record-Keeping Processes
Basic Needs and Job Satisfaction Overlooked
Two Options for Your Required Replies to Classmates
Option 1 is that you find a consultant selection made by a classmate to address a specific issue, as identified by the issue number and descriiption, with which you disagree. You must state why you believe a better consultant should address a particular issue that differs from your classmate’s response. You must state the major idea associated with your choice and why that idea applies to the issue more appropriately. Your reply must be supported with course materials, in-text citations, and references.
Option 2 occurs if you agree with all of a particular classmate’s consultant selections. In that case, you must address one of the remaining two (2) listed issues that your classmates did not answer. You will explain which consultant you think could best address that issue, the school of thought that individual represents, and explain how that individual’s major contribution or idea applies to the specific issue you selected. Your reply must be supported with course materials, in-text citations, and references.
Note: You may use either Option 1 or Option 2 for each different classmate to whom you respond.
Instructions for Responses to Classmates’ Posts
A response posting should be a minimum of one short paragraph. Word totals for these posts should be in the 75–150-word range. The goal of your response posts is to extend discussions already taking place or pose new possibilities or ideas not previously voiced. Your goal should be to motivate the group discussion and present a creative approach to the topic. Do not merely agree or disagree, repeating what a classmate stated or what you have already stated. Explain the ‘why or how’ with supporting evidence and concepts from the course material. Include in-text citations and associated references within a reference list.

Assignment: Provide an approximate 1500-word document analyzing important concepts in the readings. Ensure you apply the discussion tenets from the contributors to your work including the work of Scanlon, Alexander, Cutter, Jigyasu, Britton, and Dombrowsky. Assume that you are writing for an uninformed reader that knows nothing about the topic and has not read what you read. Provide an introduction that gives the background of the resource that you are reviewing, so the reader will understand what they’re reading and why.

My subject area is social sciences, with a focus on Middle Eastern studies.
My research examines the involvement of Syrian women in the peace process, focusing on the Geneva II peace talks in January 2014. The negotiations were a crucial initiative to achieve a political resolution to the Syrian conflict by fostering dialogue between the Syrian government and opposition factions.
In my research, I need to document and analyse the contributions of Syrian women, shedding light on the challenges they faced during these negotiations and consider their involvement in Track II diplomacy efforts. The purpose of documenting and analysing the contributions of Syrian women in negotiations is to emphasise their vital roles in peacebuilding efforts, which have often been overlooked in traditional narratives, and to provide insights into how women’s participation can influence peace processes, particularly in the context of ongoing conflicts in Syria.
This research is important as it promotes the inclusion of marginalised voices, including women, ensuring that diverse perspectives are integrated into conflict resolution discussions. By examining the specific challenges these women face during negotiations, the study can inform future initiatives to enhance women’s participation in peace processes, fostering environments that support their involvement. Also, recognising the achievements and difficulties of Syrian women not only empowers those within Syria but also serves as a source of inspiration for women in other conflict-affected regions, encouraging broader engagement in diplomatic efforts. Furthermore, exploring their participation in Track II diplomacy emphasises the significance of informal dialogue in complementing formal negotiations, highlighting how grassroots initiatives can promote understanding and collaboration. Ultimately, this research is crucial for advancing gender equity in peacebuilding and ensuring that the contributions of all stakeholders are acknowledged and valued in the pursuit of lasting peace.
The goal of demonstrating the impact of women’s involvement is to advocate for their active participation in future negotiations, ultimately leading to more inclusive and effective peace agreements. This approach not only recognises the contributions of women but also emphasises the necessity of their perspectives in creating sustainable peace outcomes. Moreover, it is crucial to acknowledge the social, cultural, and political challenges Syrian women face in the Geneva II peace talks. My objective is to uncover these obstacles and explore how they are navigated. Collecting personal stories and firsthand accounts is vital for offering a nuanced perspective on the contributions and experiences of Syrian women in peacebuilding.

In each course, students will develop a comprehensive study guide that relates to the BACB test-content outline items that are covered in the course.
Rationale: The purpose of this Capstone component is for students to develop a portfolio that will serve as a study guide when studying for the BACB exam.
At 4 points during the semester, students will submit their study guide. This is to ensure that students are making progress toward completing their final study guide and that their study guide has adequate detail. At each checkpoint students will:
Create an outline of the test content outline items that have been covered
Write 5 original multiple choice questions that include the correct answers and rationale for the correct answer
Provide 1 visual aid to enhance understanding of a complex topic (e.g., chart, diagram, table, illustration). These must be completed by the student and may not be taken from the Internet.
Submit 2 references to review to enhance understanding of complex material
    Grading
The first 4 Checkpoints will be graded as complete/incomplete. You will earn 5 points for each check point submitted if it includes the following items:
Outline (You must use content provided in the course to complete the outline. You may use your text, assigned articles, lecture videos or any materials assigned in the Course. You should not use materials outside of the course)
5 multiples choice questions that include the correct answer as well as a rationale for the correct answer
