    Discussion Board Guidelines
The purpose of a course’s discussion board is to promote an online exchange of students’ knowledge, skills, and attitudes supported by the textbook readings and evidence-based information found in the literature or online. The exchange also includes application of material learned relating to the module and course learning outcomes.
The discussion board is comparable to a face-to-face classroom environment where students participate in a live discussion. In a course’s online environment, the instructor’s role is that of an observer and facilitator. The instructor will be reading all discussion posts and will participate when appropriate.
Maintain confidentially during the discussions, regarding names of patients and team members and discussions surrounding particular aspects of patient care or particular agencies.
    To find your Discussion Group
Click on “People” in the left Canvas course menu to find your discussion group. You are assigned to one of three groups: Group 1, Group 2, and Group 3. This will be your assigned group for all discussions.
If the discussion has three discussion questions, your initial post will be for the group to which you are assigned. For the two replies, no matter if there is one question for all to reply to or three questions, you will answer to one person in each of the other two groups.
    Discussion Board Evaluation Criteria
For initial posts, identify your group number at the top of your post. For all replies, identify the group number to which you are replying and address your peer by name. Do not use the word “Hey” as a salutation as it is not scholarly or professional.
Sign all three discussion posts at the end of your discussion and before the required references.
Until you post your initial post, you will not be able to see and read the posts of your peers.
All Initial posts must be made by day 4 (Saturday, 11:59 pm) and two replies by day 7 (Tuesday, 11:59 pm) of the week they are due. Posts must be made on two separate days. Any posts (initial or replies) made after day 7 will not be accepted and will receive a grade of zero.
Make sure to check the Discussion Board Grading Rubric for discussion post assignment criteria. This includes reference requirements.
Posts will be evaluated on the scholarly quality of the post per the grading rubric.
As a guide, the initial discussion post should be a minimum of 250 words. Each reply should be a minimum of 150 words. Points may be deducted if your post does not meet these requirements as the content may not be considered “substantive” enough to support your post.
Replies to peers: Posts that state, “Yes, I agree with your posting”, “I enjoyed reading the posting”, “You did a great job.” Do NOT count and NO points will be awarded.
All replies must be original; i.e. no plagiarism or use of Artificial Intelligence (AI). For more information on plagiarism and how to avoid it, review the following FSW Library tutorial: Understanding Plagiarism Tutorial: What is Plagiarism?Links to an external site.Links to an external site..
Do not use quotes from any source or author. The use of quotes just tells us what the author/reference material states. Paraphrase and cite the information.
Grammar, spelling, and proper APA format for references and citations are required and will be strictly enforced.
NOTE: If you write your post on a Word document and with correct APA format, the format may not transfer when your post is copied and pasted into Canvas. This only includes the paragraph spacing and the hanging indentation for the references.
    References
Journal articles: All peer-reviewed journal article references must be available in the FSW Library and must be published within the last five (5) years unless considered a classic or historical source. You may also use articles from the StatPearls database or from the National Library of Medicine, National Center for Biotechnology Information.
If you cite an article, it means you have read the whole article, not just the abstract.
Websites: Only valid and reliable websites can be used (.org or .edu). Do not use a blog or an encyclopedia and most websites with advertisements are not scholarly with evidence-based content.
Textbooks: Make sure to refer to your APA Manual (7th ed.) or the APA Style website for the correct format if you use any textbook as a reference.

I am a registered nurse. I have been a registered nurse since 2019. I first received my ASN. Wasn’t sure if I was going to like nursing. But once I started in the field I fell in love with it. I soon perused my BSN. I started working in a rehab. I was quickly promoted to a charge nurse. And then briefly assisted with ADON responsibilities during Covid. I helped implement protocols during Covid. During Covid I decided I wanted to help communities that needed it and started working in a Med Surg unit. Where I was also a charge nurse. Most recently I work in an ICU/CCU unit. Taking care of ECMO patients, ballon pumps, CVVH etc. I have decided to presume my NP mainly because my husband is a doctor and we are always learning new things together. Some of our vacations are medical conferences. My father has also recently passed away. His experience has helped me to experience healthcare from a patients point of view and I am eager to provide excellent and compassionate care. I have always enjoyed following a patient and their story and would like to work in an office as their primary provider. I love helping patients and their families. I was recently awarded a Daisy award.
Rivier is a good choice for me because it is online. I have twin toddlers. I do not have alot of help it is just myself and my husband. He works all being a doctor and his family live in India. I have several coworkers that have gone to Rivier and have all told me how great of an experience it was.

    Each student

Creating Environments for Excellence in Nursing Writing Assignment
Each student will complete an 800- to 1000-word scholarly paper (not including Title and References pages) presenting an evidence-based case for what they determine as two best strategies towards Creating Environments for Excellence in Nursing. The paper is to focus on suggested themes, presented appropriately with APA headings for a Student Scholarly Paper. Proper use of headings will help to organize the paper and reinforce consistency for the reader. (Refer to pages 47-49, Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association, 7th Edition for formatting levels of headings.)
Students are expected to address themes by applying concepts and analytical understanding gained in a literature search of current and acceptable journal articles, videos or research, and any assigned course readings. A minimum of five references should be used. Three of these sources should be from peer-reviewed articles. See Rubric Creating Environments for Excellence in Nursing: A Writing Assignment for complete grading criteria.
To help organize the paper, focus on the following:
    1) Introduction
Examine sustainable and economical strategies to develop professional environments that enhance nursing excellence and promote patient-centered care. Discuss the circumstances that contribute to unhealthy (nursing) work environments. Include current challenges faced by nurses and choose two viable strategies / opportunities for creating a supportive working environment that retains nurses while promoting safe, high-quality care.
    2) State your first strategy or opportunity for creating an environment of nursing excellence.
Explain the reason you feel this is a second sustainable and economical strategy to develop professional environments that enhance nursing excellence and promote patient-centered care. Backed by evidence, present the benefits of this strategy. Consider any potential threats to your specific strategy and present realistic, yet creative solutions to possible barriers. Make certain, of course, to cite and credit your sources.
    3) State your second strategy or opportunity for creating an environment of nursing excellence.
Explain the reason you feel this second strategy is a sustainable and economical strategy to develop professional environments that enhance nursing excellence and promote patient-centered care. Backed by evidence, present the benefits of this strategy. Consider any potential threats to your specific strategy and present realistic, yet creative solutions to possible barriers. Make certain, of course, to cite and credit your sources.
    4) Summary or Conclusion
Present your final statement /conclusion in a way that summarizes content while, at the same time, leaves the reader with a positive, lasting impression. Make your best effort to avoid a ‘copy and paste’ approach to the summary. By posing a question or delivering a thought-provoking final statement, the reader will remain engaged and (ideally!) interested enough in your topic to research and explore further…they may even be prompted to take action!

Words of Wisdom for the Week 5 Assignment
    • This is an individual assignment (each student will complete his or her own assignment and submit).
    • Research evidence can be a QUALitative or QUANtitative research article. Please note: While a systematic review of the literature with a meta-analysis is considered research, I strongly (and I cannot emphasize this enough) encourage you to NOT select this for your research evidence. If you do you will struggle with future assignments and will not be able to change your article selection, so please take this into consideration as I am trying to set you up for success.
    • Non-research evidence can be a systematic/integrative/narrative review of the literature (not a systematic review with meta-analysis), a clinical practice guideline, or anything that is not research.
    • No two students can have the same article (research or non-research) so it may be advantageous to work within your group to ensure this does not occur (if it does you will have to determine who will select a new article to complete).
    • Make sure to review your APA manual for the appropriate formatting of your paper and references. This is a requirement for the graduate school and (take it from me because I lived it) when you submit your final project for graduation you will not be able to graduate until everything is correct!
I just need someone to go over what I have done and make sure the article I chose will work, I have used the article correctly in filling out information including that it is considered a quantitative research study, correct level has been chosen, and my response to the answers are correct. Make sure I have not messed something up or am missing something.
