Successful rehabilitation of an offender out of a criminal lifestyle has been, and will continue to be, a highly debatable topic in our society. No one has discovered the secret for a treatment strategy or type of rehabilitation program that will “always” be successful at preventing an offender from returning to incarceration. However, researchers and mental health/psychology professionals specializing in offender rehabilitation have been able to identify why some strategies are more effective than others. Furthermore, they have discovered the importance of understanding the intricacies of a criminal mind and how every offender has unique criminal motivators and needs.
The treatment and rehabilitation of criminal offenders garner attention in the field and debate over the effectiveness of treatment as it relates to the reduction of recidivism continues. Choose an article of your choice to discuss the effectiveness of treating criminal offenders. You may address an individual case, a single population of offenders, or offenders in general.
